Welcome to our new Executive Director

Updated: Dec 13, 2019

New Hampshire Children’s Trust (NHCT) is pleased to welcome Cliff Simmonds as Chief Executive Officer, who joins a NHCT team poised to lead the effort to eliminate child abuse and neglect across the Granite State.

With 25 years of nonprofit experience, Simmonds is an innovator who has led prominent youth services organizations in New Hampshire and Massachusetts where his passion for helping others facilitated agency-wide restructuring and the enhancement of all aspects of operations. A self-described “lifelong learner,” Simmonds relishes the opportunity to collaborate with both local and national organizations to ensure that the healthy development of children and families remains a top priority.

“We brought Cliff on for this very reason,” NHCT Board Chair Lara Quiroga said. “In addition to his business leadership acumen, he has a deep passion for cultivating healthy environments for children and families.”

Most recently, Simmonds developed an industry-leading Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) outcomes and measures initiative to quantify the socio-emotional growth of underserved children in a summer camp setting. “Social and emotional learning competencies are inherent in everything we do with children,” Simmonds said. “And creating a strong foundation for social and emotional development is the key to future success in all aspects of daily life.”

Simmonds’ past work with SEL development is well-suited to further New Hampshire Children's Trust’s mission to ensure kids across the Granite State grow up in safe, nurturing homes.

In a “prior life,” Simmonds was a community relations consultant for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and many Fortune 500 companies. His three decades of experience spanning the business, environmental, and nonprofit sectors will be an asset to NHCT’s efforts to promote positive social norms, advocate for family-friendly policies, and strengthen the proficiency and accessibility of family supports throughout New Hampshire.
