Home Visiting for family support and strengthening

Home visiting is a service designed to empower parents and give families opportunities to be their strongest.   Home visiting programs may look different at different agencies.  What all home visiting programs have in common is that they provide voluntary services to families in their home, in order to promote the well-being of children and families.  Services are designed to increase the strength and stability of families, and increase parent confidence and competence in their parenting so that children have a stable and supportive family environment.  Home visiting programs serve expectant parents and families with children ages birth to 21, although not all programs serve all ages.   Programs are funded in a variety of ways including state contracts, Medicaid reimbursement, and private grants and donors.  In most cases, there is no cost to the family to receive home visits.
